What started with a vision of The Floating Hospital waiting room filled with patients reading books has turned into a reading program that travels from the main clinic to our other sites at family shelters in the Bronx and Brooklyn.
The idea is a simple one: waiting rooms don’t have to just be waiting rooms. With a rotating shelf of donated books for readers of every age, families can turn appointment time into something a little more restorative — a small, steady presence in an otherwise busy day.
