Anxiety, hypervigilance, sleep disturbances, depression or difficulty engaging in life—these are several of the manifestations of trauma brought on by gun violence, and reported by our behavioral health team in the communities that we serve.
Our behavioral health team works alongside primary care providers so that these experiences don’t go unnoticed or unaddressed. Healing takes time, and it takes a team — which is why this kind of support is built into the same visit as everything else, not treated as an afterthought.
